Made To Produce

July 19, 2018

Just a few days ago I planted some flowers and touched up my ferns, it was a solid 100 degrees outside, but I pressed through to add some pretty to my porch. Recently I saw on an Instagram where she said, “I’ll make everything around me pretty.” I loved that, it inspired me to stroll outside and make my sitting area pretty.

We have a walnut tree producing like crazy, they are all over the ground, you will lose your footing quick if you aren’t paying attention. But, right next to the walnut tree is a pear tree, last year we had enough pears for all of Leland. When I looked up as far as I could see, I saw no pears, not a single pear. Why? I did what you would do, I google’d it. Ha!

It says the number one reason trees fail to bear fruit is that they expend all of their energy in growing wood and do not produce flower buds. I looked at the wood and sure enough it was thriving, the leaves were beautiful, but no flower buds to produce a pear. My mind works overtime when I see stuff like this, somewhere between knee slappin’ mosquitos and swatting knats, it hit me. We can be just like this pear tree. We  spend our time and energy people pleasing, sweeping up messes, faking the funk, spending all of our free time in social clubs, and our jobs. The list of time wasters can go on like my four year old at bedtime making up reasons to stay woke.

Worldly distractions aren’t always bad, but they can keep us from what is best for our soul and they keep us from producing fruit, our wood (lives) may look great like the pear tree, but we aren’t bearing fruit.

Everywhere we look there are advertisements, sales, buy this, save that, join here, you need this it will lift that, and we are taking it all in. Next thing you know our schedules are over-booked, our families and eyebrows are neglected,  our countertops are filled with the next you will be skinny in 10 days and have hair down to your bum supplements and our fruits aren’t producing and if they are, they are spoiling because we aren’t taking care of what really matters, our hearts.

Jesus performed miracles because he was anointed with the Holy Spirit. The same power that rose Jesus from the dead, lives in you, you are anointed with the same Holy Spirit. You are called to do the works of the Father. You are called to produce. We are commissioned to show the love of Jesus Christ and we don’t have to go far to do so.

Each week I walk into a barbed wire facility and stare women in the face who need to hear “you are beautiful, you are loved, you are worthy.” This past week we paused for open discussion, the Lord was stirring in me to ask them to pray for a mentor, pray for a mature woman of God to be a part of your life when you get home. They looked at me like I had a toe on my forehead until I told them why.

I told them we need women who are a few steps ahead of us to pour into our life that are full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom. Some of these ladies don’t have a sober person in their family or friend group. They need to know that people care about them, enough to step into their lives and share the love of God with them. God anoints us to share our talents with others.

Being a fruitful Christian means that we are to produce something similar to the attributes that our tree is, our tree is Christ, we are to produce fruits for God. “The fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life” Romans 6:22 “For which we were called “in order that we may bear fruit for God.” Romans 7:4

Fill yourself with good things that are sufficient and you to help you grow in ways that will produce the fruits that you were made to bare. A healthy daily routine is one of the best ways to make sure that you are starting out on the right foot. Mamie Pack shares 3 daily affirmations to start your day with hope.

Put your energy into things that have a good return of investment, into people who need your love, and into things that help you grow.

What are some time and energy wasters that you can remove from your life?

Have Zest and Eat a Pear!!

Fun Fact: When you eat a pear your body absorbs glucose, which is converted into energy. Eating pears can be a boost for you if you feel tired in the afternoon!

  1. When God Calls You into a new season in your life to pour into others , it is the most amazing blessing that you will ever experience on earth. Although it requires sacrifices of your personal time and your social agenda, it fills you to overflowing with completeness. After years of being poured into and set aside to meet the needs of my family God called me to a new season in my widowhood to be the one who pours in. Thank you Father for a life of blessings and a season of joy unspeakable.
